The Willard Asylum for the Insane was founded in 1869 and
closed in 1995. All who worked at the institution had a very warm and close
relationship with the inmates whose cases and belongings they carefully
preserved. Years later, these cases, 400 in number, and their contents were all
photographed and carefully documented for posterity.
