The Encyclopedia Britannica defines social mobility as “the movement of individuals, families or groups through a system of social hierarchy or stratification". It is often described as one of the most important indicators of whether the society is indeed a welfare society. Everyone therefore agrees that it is highly desirable and that the lack of it bodes ill for society. Do your research to better understand the concept. Then discuss the factors that enhance social mobility, the danger of lack of social mobility and the measures that can be taken to increase it.
