EMOTIONAL LABOR

In many areas of life, people have to fake their feelings and look happy, welcoming, friendly and eager to please whereas deep down, they feel quite the reverse. This is especially true in the service industry, in retail, in customer relations but also in medicine and all areas of the business world where pleasing customers and thus attracting more business is the order of the day. Yet what does this continual play acting, also called emotional labor, do to the individual? Do your research and find out. When you are ready, write an essay in which you describe what emotional labor is and what effects it has.
